Praying with the Psalms

God’s house is a refuge for those who love His name. David identifies those who cannot stand before the Lord’s eyes. Verse 10 names four parts of the body: mouth, heart, throat, and tongue. All of these can bring us trouble. But together they can prevent us from entering His house. They can also help us offer praise to God which is at the heart of many of the 150 psalms. Verses 2-4 offer a praise of sighing, crying and pleading to God for his help, all with significant praise.

Praying with this psalm, is a way to approach the Lord with contrition and with a gentle heart. In return we seek the favor of being surrounded by His shield.

Happy and blessed new year!
