Praying with the psalms

Click here to read Psalm 2

Psalm 2 is packed more than my suitcase on a short trip. So much to take and not enough room in my bag for all that I need.

There are multiple references to Jesus the Christ. In verse two for instance, a reference to the anointed one. In the original Hebrew, “mashiah”, in Greek, “christos” and this in English, “Messiah and Christ”.

There is a movement away from kings and princes who have us in chains and shackles. But, the Lord to the rescue, “You are my son; today I have begotten you”, for with a rod he will shepherd them and shatter them like a potter’s vessel. Take that you kings and princes.

Finally, a plea to serve the Lord with fear (respect), trembling and accept correction.

My prayer here is with a huge amount of respect for the Lord, you will be rescued from evil no matter where it comes from.
