Praying with the Psalms

Click here to read psalm 1

When I read psalm 1 I get hungry. The opening verses speak of the wicked, the middle talks of the joy of the man who follows the law of the Lord followed by more wicked talk. This is a sandwich psalm as I like to call them.

Praying with this psalm is easy if you stick with the “meat” of this sandwich. Counting yourself prosperous is easy to do but looking at your wickedness is the way I would pray with this. What part of your heart are you hiding from God? Give him the whole wicked thing and you too will yield fruit in season and your leaves will never fade. Peace.
